Jendouba Municipality Implements its GIS for Optimized Municipal Management

Wishing to improve its urban management methods, the Municipality of Jendouba is in the process of acquiring a Geographic Information System. In this context, a day for the implementation of this tool was organized at the municipality on November 9, 2018. The database in its first phase has been implemented with the production of a system consolidation plan to be achieved in the coming weeks.
The designed database has three modules: the regulated urbanism module, the road module and the public lighting module. This design is compatible with the Urban Municipal Database Project (BDMU) already implemented in eight pilot projects.
The implementation of the GIS unit required a work analysis of the technological, informational and organizational needs of the municipality, followed by a conceptual phase of the GIS and concluded by a mission of data collection and data entry to populate the database.
This project was initiated under the Support Program for Urban Democratic Governance and Local Economic Development and is currently being pursued under the Empowerment Program of the Communes, implemented by the National Federation of Tunisian Cities and the CILG-VNG International with the support of the European Union and the Government of the Netherlands
